Latest Announcements

1.     Please note the revised times and locations of Pre-Congress Events: see below.

2.     The previously advertised Pre-Congress Workshop has been cancelled.

3.     Congress Day 1 will start at 8.30am. Congress Day 2 will start at 8.40am.

4.     A light breakfast (coffee, tea, juices, bagels, and muffins) will be available at 7.30am on both Day 1 and Day 2.

5.     The registration desk will open at 7.30am on Days 1 and 2 at the Congress venue.

6.     Pre-registered participants will receive a complimentary lunch box on Days 1 and 2.

7.     The nearest campus parkade is Health Sciences Parkade on East Mall (use Gate 11 or Gate 7; $12/day), only a 3-min. walk to the Congress venue. Inexpensive outdoor parking lots are also available on the south side of the campus.

9.     For out-of-town visitors, please be aware that the weather condition can be unpredictable. Please bring an umbrella just in case. Also, mornings and evenings may be cool enough to require a light jacket or sweater.

10.  There will be English-Japanese simultaneous interpretation available. You will be required to sign out a receiver and return it at the end of each day.

Pre-Congress Events (August 23, 2007)

1.   Sociodrama: Birth of Morita Therapy

Time:               3.30pm to 4.45pm, August 23 (Thursday), 2007

Location:         Lecture Hall #120 in the Aquatic and Ecosystems Research Laboratory (A.E.R.L.) at 2202 Main Mall on UBC campus

Presenters:      Hajime Mashino, M.D. (Japan Lutheran College, Japan) and his sociodrama performance team

Open to:          All Congress registrants and non-registrants (free admission)

Languages:       English and Japanese (with use of surtitles)

2.   Cultural-Spiritual Ceremonies: First Nations Prayers and Japanese Shinto Purification

Time:               5pm to 6.10pm, August 23 (Thursday), 2007

Location:         First Nations Longhouse at 1985 West Mall on UBC campus

  • First Nations Prayers by Elder Gerry Oleman (Musqeaum spiritual dancer)
  • Shinto Purification Performance by Priest Wataru Kaya (Japan) and others

Open to:          All Congress registrants and non-registrants (free admission)

Languages:       English and Ancient Japanese

3.   Welcoming Reception (Supper, Music, and Evening Lecture)

Time:               6.20pm – 8.30pm
